Lourdes

You could guess that the majority of people getting off the plane in Tarbes are already tourists or pilgrims. A small town of 15thousand inhabitants welcomes over 6 million tourists each year. A bus took me from the airport to the center for just two Euros.
My first destination was the local office of Tourism. It was the only place were I could speak English apart from a attending Mass celebrated in English.
Staying on low budget is easier when you are couch surfing. And that is how I met Guillaume. Of course, I have arranged that beforehand via internet, and after Guillaume accepted my couch surfing request,I was sure I wasn't to be a typical hotel tourist. Originally coming from Paris Guillaume moved to Lourdes to work as an export manager for nitche segment of surgical bone implants. I was lucky to share his apartment and food as well as discussions ranging from personal believes to literature and religion. His place is very charming in the center of Lourdes with a terrace overlooking the castle from the times of Charles the great.
